Glossary of Terms

Archetype (Noun)

A metaphysical aspect of the worldrepresented as a single word, which can alter the Veil according to its specifications. Used by Chroniclers to perform supernatural feats.

Chronicler (Noun)

An individual who has been conscripted by the Veil in order to fight against the monsters that threaten the world. Generally possesses Archetypes, and can see through the Veil.

Chosen (Noun)

A type of Chronicler who was "chosen" by a mysterious object known as an Archetype Stone. This stone is integrated into an item of their choice, which becomes an Artifact that they can use to channel Archetypes.

Delphia (Noun, Proper)

The name for the “other world” that monsters are said to originate. This term is typically unknown to Chroniclers.

Gifted (Noun)

A type of Chronicler who obtained their powers from a non-Veil entity in exchange for their services. Often possess a physical token of this deal, allowing them to pass as a Chosen.

Monster (Noun)

A blanket term for any supernatural entity or force that has crossed through the Veil into Telluria.

Pierced (Adjective or Verb)

Describes an individual who has begun to perceive the truth of the world, and can see past the Veil’s illusions. Can also be used as a verb, describing the act of attaining this state.

Psychic (Noun)

A type of Chronicler who was pierced after witnessing an undeinably supernatural event, the trauma of which has allowed them to develop the ability to use Archetypes.

Scion (Noun)

A Chronicler who either originates from or has some connection to Delphia itself that has caused them to become Pierced. Capable of transforming into a monsterous form, which allows them to use Archetypes.

Soul (Noun, Proper)

A strange force unknowingly possessed by certain chroniclers and possibly monsters. Those who have it seem to be able to defy fate at critical moments.

Telluria (Noun, Proper)

The term for the world the game takes place in; resembles modern day Earth. This term is typically unknown to Chroniclers.

Veil (Noun, Proper)

A mysterious magical force which covers Telluria. Holds monsters at bay and shrouds the supernatural from sight.

Veiled (Adjective)

Describes an individual who is incapable of seeing through the Veil. The default state of humanity.

Weaver (Noun)

A Chronicler with a strong belief in a supernatural concept, who forcibly pierced themselves through a custom ritual that managed to contact the Veil. Bears a glowing brand somewhere on their body which is the source of their Archetypes.
