As a kid, Cassandra Robinson was the outcast. Always the one picked last on the playground, the one who everyone avoided eye contact with, who was blamed for everything that went wrong. All that changed in high school, when she became the most popular girl in town overnight. Her secret? Her mother won the lottery. Not that Cassandra was going to care. Better to have false friends than none at all. She held out long enough to escape to college, where she could start her social life anew. And start anew she did, cutting off most of her friends along the way.One night, while walking home from a party, she found it. A strange glowing stone sitting in one of the trash cans on campus. She picked it up, and her life changed forever. Her social troubles went from the foremost thing in her life to an afterthought as the existence of monsters was forcibly revealed to her.
